System requirements for Valorant

Although, FPS boosting guides on how to increase fps in valorant can make you improve game performance, it’s also important to know that you need to meet the Valorant System Requirements for you to properly and even potentially run Valorant in the first place because when you don’t meet even the minimum system requirements for Valorant, nothing can work greatly for you. Riot Games has listed their System requirements for Valorant on their website at playvalorant.com or read below:

Minimum System requirements:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or AMD equivalent
GPU: Intel HD4000 or AMD equivalent
Ram: 4GB
VRam: 1GB
OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-Bit

Recommended or Higher System Requirements

CPU: Intel i3-4130 / i5 4460 or higher
GPU: GT 730 / GTX 1050TI or Higher
Ram: 8GB / 16GB or Higher
VRam: 3GB or Higher
OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-Bit

Intel vs Ryzen for Valorant

FPS games like Valorant perform better when running on an Intel processor. Although, not as common, Ryzen users tend to get more FPS drops in Valorant compared to their Intel counterparts. This happens in games like CSGO that care more about single-processing on the processor due to their game engine and how they work, although, Valorant is a newer game which has better optimization for multi-threading cores like Ryzen, Intel still wins by performance when it comes to Valorant, and you kind of do see that in test videos when it comes to CPU comparisons.

Optimize Valorant in-game video settings

Putting everything at all low in the graphic settings may or may not help you, and sometimes a mix of medium or low settings can improve the games FPS by a bit just because depending on your system hardware some PC configurations are optimized better for medium settings rather than an all-low setting. Hear me out, now if your PC is really at the lowest-end for example being equivalent to Valorant Minimum System requirements or not meeting it at all then an all-Low Setting configuration would hopefully be better.

If your System Hardware is equivalent to the Recommended requirements by Valorant, its better to Mix settings by trial and error rather than setting it at a ll low, but again, this entirely depends on the individuals PC, so in the end, all low-settings may be better off for you. You can also go to prosettings.net and check out current Valorant Pro player settings as well.

You can also use your Graphics Card Software for auto-optimization

For example Nvidia has their Nvidia GeForce Experience software and AMD has their Radeon Software that auto-optimize games when requested or on launch via their platform, this may or may not be proven helpful compared to configuring the settings manually, but it’s more or less the same which might be beneficial for you nonetheless

Other in-game gameplay settings

Besides video settings, other in-game settings that refer to dddddeath animations, dead bodies, and other gameplay enhancements we may want turned off because it can sometimes affect the performance of the lowest-end PC. To optimize our Valorant in-game gameplay settings, check this image.

Usually most of these are entirely personal preference, but things like showing mature content, inventory, player loadouts and other UI changes being turned off would put a minor ease on your Computer system. Usually Bullet Tracers make you lag, but depending on you which you might need for Gun-Spray control reasons.

Check your background process in Task Manager

This is the most common method, but mostly everyone knows this, but we will say it again. Close everything in your background processes that isn’t important, and check if anything is eating up your System Resources. A lot of programs like Discord, Google Chrome, other browsers, Skype and other unnecessary background applications that are running will eat up your System power and if you really have the worst PC system hardware, you got to make Valorant the only thing you’re running, of course besides the important applications that runs the PC.

Run Valorant at High Priority CPU Usage

Running Valorant at High Priority CPU usage can improve FPS stability and limit the FPS drops you may constantly experience, so making your computer focus most of its CPU power onto Valorant will limit this problem and keep a stable FPS running game, but keep in mind, anything that is running including your Windows operating system may suffer and eventually slower your operating system functionality, so when enabled, only play Valorant and disable right away if you won’t but if you closed all background processes, there’s really nothing to worry about.

  1. Task Manager
  2. Right Click Valorant.exe or similar with “Valorant-“
  3. Set Priority
  4. Set to High

Update Graphic Drivers

Updating graphic drivers can go along way because with each driver update comes with some sort of optimization fixes for the Graphics card in General, and also because it updates to the latest that games depend on. A lot of people miss these, or end up not doing it for whatever personal reason but it’s highly recommended before troubleshooting with any other methods. You can go to AMD or Nvidia website, or go to your respective Graphics Card Software.

Change your Power Options

By default your Power Options is configured to Power Saving or Balance, if so, change it to High Performance, this is in order for your PC to send full power to your Graphics Card, and not just throttle the power which weakens PC performance.

Windows 10:

  1. Control Panel
  2. Hardware and Sound
  3. Change power-saving settings (Power Options)
  4. Set to High Performance

Install Valorant on the SSD

Installing Valorant on the SSD or any game for that matter is important because the game gains a significant performance increase. Although it does not increase fps in Valorant, it makes your Valorant load faster, the game, the map and environment itself, this is just for limiting the amount of potential crashes, freezes or even FPS drops you may get because installing any game into your HDD that is full or tasked with other running software like your Operating system will eventually clutter the stability and cause these “hiccups” in the system that may freeze or even crash your Valorant randomly.

Good Luck

If you don’t still see any major or even minor improvements after following this How to increase FPS in Valorant, then it’s time to upgrade. There’s really nothing that you can do but have your Computer Hardware upgraded, simply because your PC parts are maybe too outdated, or just really at the Low-end, if it isn’t then something might be wrong internally, that might be a faulty hardware, or even a Malware/Virus hiding around your system, who knows, but hope this still helped in some level and happy gaming!
