Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi is a recent 2020 Romance Anime Movie representing Love and Determination in two young adults that just so happened to bump into each other one day. Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi is a Slice of Life, Romance Drama that is produced by Bones, the studio behind Boku No Hero, Carole & Tuesday, and other big Anime titles so, the Animation quality is expected to be good. It has received a 8.51 score on MyAnimeList at the time of this writing, having a lot of positive feedback from the Anime community.
Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi Synopsis
Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi revolves around a university student, Tsuneo Suzukawa, who is aiming to study Marine Biology abroad, juggling part-time jobs and studies, so that he can go and earn enough money to go abroad to his ideal university in Mexico. He works in a dive shop where he further tries to look for more work that pays better. After going home from work, Tsuneo bumps into a young woman, named Josee, on a wheelchair, who was apparently pushed down a small road going downhill. This leads to both individuals inevitably bumping into each other accidentally, where the young woman who was introduced as Josee. Their accidental interaction later turns into a series of cute, emotional and romantic moments between them, when Tsuneo is asked to take her of Josee at home by the grandmother.

Josee to Tora to sakana-tachi story is a pretty straightforward Anime movie in terms of being a Romantic Drama. A cliché formula of having two young adults crossing paths from two different backgrounds and coming to fall in love with one another while dealing with heavy predicaments on both sides along the way. Although, simple and cliché the story may be, it was executed well, which portrayed the simple challenging romantic story of two individuals nicely and didn’t fail to bore you as it always kept you watching how things would turn out between the two.
There are a lot of movies that can go the cliché route with the usual predictable romance formula and fail, but Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi managed to succeed in telling a simple story of love, showcasing the beauty of it, and challenges of falling in love with someone who is living a different life than you. That love may bring pain, and hardships, though it can create a feeling that we always yearned for from caring, kindness and to happiness.
The characters in the anime are vibrant, and written aesthetically well enough to fit the romantic marine themes of the movie. Both love the ocean, both have an interest for marine life, and where the girl, Josee, is an aspiring Artist who wants to add some color into her life, after some of her paintings were seen by Tsuneo Suzukawa, that catered even more to her interest of the ocean due to his background in Marine biology studies and work.

Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi was produced and animated by the studio, Bones, who are known for Animating great titles like Boku No Hero. Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi had a really fitting art style, which the characters, especially Josee was cutely designed. Along with the environmental background. It is your typical modernly animated movie in 2020, and there’s nothing wrong with the Animations I can point out.
